Every driver's week, settled

Monday to Sunday. The figures build themselves as trips come in, and at the end there is a receipt requested, read and matched — and a payment with proof. None of it through a spreadsheet.

Five steps, and the third one is the driver's

Settling a week is not a button. It is a short conversation between the person paying and the person getting paid, with the figures in front of both.

  1. The operator sends the figures

After Uber's weekly cut-off — Monday at 4am — they tap “Send the figures to the driver”. Until then the week's total builds up “so far”, as trips come in.

  2. The driver checks them

They see their own week on their phone and answer: “The figures are right”, or say what does not add up — a deduction too many, a missing trip. The operator fixes it and sends again.

  3. The receipt is requested, for the exact amount

The receipt card shows who to invoice — the company's name, tax number and address — and the amounts, already totalled. The driver issues the receipt on the Portuguese tax portal with those details.

  4. The receipt is read and checked

They upload the file and nothing else. Myfleet reads its total and both tax numbers and compares them with the settlement. If they match, it is approved on its own. If not, it goes to review, and the operator sees what was read next to what was expected.

  5. Payment, with proof

The payment proof is read too — the amount and who was paid. If it does not match, a warning appears; the payment is still recorded. The week closes.

The calculation, in full

This is it, and there is no other. Every line comes from somewhere you can open and look at.

LineWhat it is
Platform earnings What Uber and Bolt paid for that week's trips
− Operator fee What the operator charges per week. Set on each driver's record, and it can differ from driver to driver
− Weekly charges Fixed weekly amounts, such as the personal accident insurance share. Each one appears as a deduction under its own name
− Deductions Whatever was booked that week: tolls, a fine, anything else
+ Credits The opposite of a deduction. Useful for waiving a charge in a given week
+ Driver's VAT Where the driver charges VAT, it applies to what is left after the lines above
= Receipt total The amount the driver invoices

Reimbursed tolls are paid separately. They go with the transfer but stay outside the receipt — they are not the driver's income, they are the driver's own money coming back.

What happens when something goes wrong

This is where a spreadsheet stops being enough: it is not the normal week that costs time, it is the exceptions.

  • The receipt does not match

It goes to review and the operator is notified, with the amount read next to the one expected. If the reading got it wrong, they approve it anyway; if the receipt really is wrong, they ask for a correction with a reason, and the driver uploads another.

  • A mistake turns up after payment

The settlement is reopened, with a reason. It goes back to open: fix it, send the figures again, and the receipt and the payment proof are done afresh.

  • The driver changed company mid-week

Each company has its own settlement for that week, with the trips done in its own fleet. Both charge the week's fee — and whoever wants to waive theirs books a credit.

  • Several companies work as a network

If the owner turns on split receipts, the week's amount is divided equally between the companies and the driver issues one receipt to each. Every part has its own card, reading and payment.

What settlements do not do

  • They do not issue the receipt. The driver does, on the Portuguese tax portal. Myfleet tells them the right figures and checks whatever they upload.
  • They do not pay. The transfer is made by the operator, at their own bank. What Myfleet does is record the payment and read the proof.
  • There is no settlement in a week with no activity. No trips and no entries means nothing is created and nothing is charged.
  • A weekly charge cannot be removed by hand. To waive it for one week, book a credit in the driver's favour.
  • Changing a charge does not touch the past. It redoes the weeks still open; the ones already sent for a receipt keep the amount the driver saw.

Questions people ask

Why Monday at 4am?

That is Uber's cut-off. Before it, the week can still take in trips, and settling the figures before the cut-off would mean settling numbers that are still going to change.

What if the driver does not answer?

The settlement waits for their confirmation. That is deliberate: the receipt they are about to be asked for has an amount on it, and that amount has to be one they have seen and accepted.

Does the receipt reading get things wrong?

It can. That is why a mismatch does not reject anything — it goes to review, with what was read next to what was expected, and the operator decides. The reading is there to save the manual check, not to have the last word.

Does the driver pay Myfleet anything?

Never. Myfleet is paid by the operator, and the driver's app is free to them. The charges that show up in their settlement belong to the company, not to us.
