When it is several companies working together

Some operators are, in practice, several companies. A network lets them see each other's drivers and settlements and — if the owner wants — split each week's receipt between the companies, one part each.

What it is for

Many operators are not one company: they are three, for reasons of licensing, partners or insurance. The cars all park on the same street and drivers move from one to another, but in the accounts they are separate worlds.

In a network, the companies see each other's drivers and settlements. Nobody has to ask somebody else to open another laptop to find out which fleet a driver is in this week.

Split receipts

This is the part that solves a real invoicing problem, and it is optional: it is switched on under Network, and only the owner can do it.

With splitting on:

  • each driver's weekly amount is divided equally between the companies in the network;
  • the driver issues one receipt to each — and sees one card per company in their app;
  • every part has its own receipt, reading and payment, handled by each company;
  • the leftover cent goes to the driver's own company. Somebody has to take it, and it is whoever has them in their fleet.

When a driver changes company mid-week

It happens, and it is the case spreadsheets always get wrong.

Each company keeps its own settlement for that week, with the trips done in its own fleet. Both charge the full week's fee — and whoever wants to waive theirs books a credit in the driver's favour.

On their side, the balance shows one part per company, so they can see where each half comes from instead of a single number that matches nothing.

What a network does not do

  • It does not merge the companies. They stay separate companies, with separate tax numbers, and each pays its own subscription.
  • It does not split by percentages. The split is equal. If you need another division, this is not the way.
  • It does not change who employs whom. The driver is in one fleet; the network is only what the companies see and how the receipt is split.
  • It does not switch itself on. The owner does, and until they do the behaviour is the normal one.
